Tattoo Tuesday

I got a new tattoo today.

That is our tattoo artist and friend Sarah doing the actual tattooing. She is the owner of Vivid Tattoo in Knoxville (Kayla works there too). Sarah has done a lot of my tattoos. She has the lightest hand and is a remarkable artist. This picture was taken right when she started. Notice how my other hand is clenched. I was prepared for it to hurt a lot more then it actually did.

This was right after the outline was finished. The outline is the worst part of the tattoo in my opinion.

And this is the finished product. It is pretty red and swollen right now. Seriously, my hand is fat. I hope it shrinks back down.

If you can correctly guess what this tattoo is you get a long distance high 5.

  2. Cool! It looks awesome! Is it one of those snake symbols that represents life, death, rebirth? I don't know the name. If it is somehow related to Kurt Vonnegut I will be shocked.

    2. Ahhh! Gotcha. I should have known - I love the Neverending Story. When Ruby gets a haircut, I call her Falcor because I've had three complete strangers she looks like him. It is sort of true. Very cool.

  3. It's that snake that eats its own tail, right? .... ouroboros? It was the name of a House of Lies episode the other day, or else I wouldnt have any idea...

    1. You are semi correct. Technically the symbol has been used in different circumstances through time. However, this is AURYN from the Neverending Story. You know the thing Atreyu wears around his neck?

  6. I have two tattoos and I am always thinking about the millionty others that I want, but I just don't have the balls to get them in places that are too overt. I always eye people with tattoos like yours with a fair amount of jealousy.

    1. Once I got 1 visible tattoo, it seemed pointless to try and hide them anymore.

  9. I knew the symbol the minute i saw it. And now I'm sad that everyone read this before me. I wanted to be the first to answer correctly! :) Beautiful tattoo. I'm getting an Oscar Wilde quote tattooed on my ribcage with a pinup girl done in Alphonse Mucha art style...and on my other ribcage I'm getting a Dolly Parton quote with a cherry blossom tree. Tattoos are such an addiction

  10. You should have come with the kids and I to see Children's Theatre do The Neverending Story. It was both cute and awesome.

2012 is "Less booze, more tattoos" for me.

  11. Sweet ink! And I agree the outline is always more painful for me. Getting shaded is a cake walk.
